Welcome to Brenneman Lumber!  We are a family owned and operated business with yard and offices located in Mount Vernon, Ohio U.S.A.  Our goal is to provide our customers with the finest northern Appalachian hardwood lumber, which is widely recognized for its color and texture.

Founded in 1932, Brenneman Lumber Company constantly strives to maintain the high quality standards established by A.R. Brenneman.  Currently the fourth and fifth generations of the Brenneman family are active in the operations of the company located in Mount Vernon, Ohio, supplying both green and kiln dried lumber.

Brenneman Lumber company originated in northeast Ohio (Ashtabula County).  The current concentration yard in Mount Vernon was established in 1989.  We have always been a family owned company beginning with A.R. Brenneman, then Roger Brenneman, the third owner was Doug Brenneman Sr, and now Charlie and Doug Jr manage the company.


Our current concentration yard in Mount Vernon was established in 1989.  Through the years, we have added three grading stations, multiple "T" sheds, 34,000 square feet of dry storage space, with 12,000 feet of that being heated, and seven 40,000 board foot dry kilns.  We ship both green and kiln dried lumber from the Mount Vernon facility and additional green lumber comes direct from out dedicated sawmills we exclusively represent.

With our own distribution yard, Brenneman Lumber is able to provide nine or ten-way length sorting on kiln dried lumber and five-way length sorting on green lumber, double-end trimming, end coating, wide bands, container loading, anti-stain treatment, load covering, surfacing two or four sides and ripping one or two edges.








At Brenneman Lumber Company we primarily stock all Appalachian species in both green and kiln dried.  We offer all grades for each specie and thicknesses from 4/4 to 8/4 in all species and some up to 16/4.

We verify that our lumber does not come from the sources listed below.

  1. Wood harvested from forest areas where traditional or civil rights have been violated;
  2. Wood harvested from forest areas having high conservation values which are threatened;
  3. Wood harvest from genetically modified (GM) trees;
  4. Illegally harvested wood;
  5. Wood harvested from areas being converted from forests and other wooded eco-systems to plantations and non-forest use.

The Ohio Master Logger Program certifies the best management practices utilized by the loggers within the state of Ohio.

The Ohio Forestry Association maintains a Safety Training and Voluntary Certification Program for Logging Contractors and their employees.  The following requirements are necessary for the Ohio Voluntary Master Logging Companies:

  1. Each trained logger is trained to use Best Management Practices (BMPs) to reduce soil erosion and improve the appearahce of timber harvesting activities.
  2. Each trained logger is trained to employ safe and efficient timber cutting and logging safety practices.
  3. Each traned logger has current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  4. The Company maintains Worker's Compensation coverage on employees.
  5. The Company provides liability coverage on request.
  6. Each trained logger must participate in advanced training and periodic recertification training.
  7. Each trained logger must be a member of the Ohio Forestry Association, Inc.
